C. Miller's Bedroom and Alcove

The ceiling was painted periwinkle to reflect the misty colors in her bedding and her bathroom  tile.  The dark brown color in the bronze glaze was selected for the Alcove walls to compliment the periwinkle colored ceiling.  The customer performed the faux glaze in the Alcove under my direction.  She used a bronze glaze and applied it to the wall using a color wash method.

These walls were coated with two colors of Venetian plaster.  The first layer  was a gold colored Venetian plaster  with copper metallic glaze added to the mixture.  After  trowelling on the gold and copper metallic plaster mix, a final  layer of teal colored Venetian plaster was applied.

Once the finish had dried properly, it was sanded using 400 grit sandpaper, then again with 600 grit sandpaper. A finishing knife was carefully prepared and a hardy burnishing created the glass-like shean shown in the sample.  The tray ceiling was transformed from  stark white to  golden copper which accented the copper hints in the Venetian plaster. The ceiiling hardware was transformed from factory white to  hammered copper, blending into the copper painted ceiling.

Venetian Plaster is a Faux surface that gives a room the romantic and antique look of old Venice. Notice how the room below is transformed into a refuge of elegance.

A 40 ft. scaffolding system was used to perform this project. There were eight layers of metallic glazes applied with various faux applications.  The final coat was spritzed from a spray bottle to create a dramatic glistening effect.

I primed all the trim; ceiling moulding, crown moulding, columns, 12" baseboard, stair skirt, stair rails, and stage trim with two coats of a dark cranberry red.  Afterwards, I brushed on two coats of a gold metallic glaze.  Then, I ragged on a dark walnut  stain.  Finally, I brushed on a protective finish coat. What a beautiful contrast with the dark cranberry

This room was originally painted a dull green, and the owner requested I match the walls to a bouquet of golden roses with dusted sienna tips that were displayed in her kitchen. I primed the walls and patched the imperfections.  Then I applied two coats of gold finish paint to bring out the sienna wood grain in her furniture.  Finally, I lightly brushed and antiqued a soft sienna rose color into all the cracks and wall edges.

The Wallpaper remained on the wall, so I carefully covered all the seams with finishing mud.  Also, I primed walls and re-finished all imperfections to receive the final two coats of paint.  It is virtually impossible to tell the wall still has wallpaper below the painted finish.

This faux painted ceiling was matched to an existing faux painted ceiling in the adjacent room using a Metallic Glaze Technique.  I specialize in matching faux finishes to existing faux finishes.

Old World Plaster
These walls were repaired using an Old World Plaster Technique.  The texture in the plaster finish hides unsightly blemishes in the existing surface.

The medallion was hand painted using metallic gold on the raised area and hand trowelled using plaster on the flat areas.  The walls were transformed into elegance, using a Shimmer Stone Technique.  The crystals in the finish shimmer in the sunlight as you walk along the room.

This was originally a white Plaster Cast Mantle and Hearth.  I Painted the Mantle and Hearth using a Pecan Wood Graining Technique.  The columns were transformed into Patina using the Modern Masters Aged Copper Patina Technique.  Notice the patina layer over the copper finish.
